Ang Mo Kio, a mature residential town in Singapore, gets its name from Hokkien and Malay origins. "Ang Mo" translates to "red-haired" referring to Europeans, while "Kio" means bridge; supposedly, a bridge was built by a British engineer in the area long ago, hence the name "red-haired man's bridge."
